She was predeceased by her parents, Hugh and Christina Peden; and her sisters, Marion, Ethel and Doris. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Gordon (Pat) and Glenn; grandchildren, Deanna (Rick) Barten, Geoffrey, and Denise (Ryan) Proulx; great-grandchildren, Rychele Cole, Taylor Cole and Riley Proulx; brother Glenn (Joyce) nephews, Bob (Dianne), Kevin and Jennifer, and Ken (Jackie) niece Sandra (Shawn), Chad and Josh and very special little helper Kim. Mom was born in Portage la Prairie, MB. She was employed in the restaurant business as a waitress, cook and hostess, as well as a desk clerk for the Gordon Hotels. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and babysat all of them right up to her final illness. She also looked after many others when she was in her house and was known as "Gramma Edie" to many children in the neighbourhood. Mom loved family gatherings at all times, especially holiday times, where everyone enjoyed her fantastic meals, as we all thought she was the greatest cook in the world. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 22 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Many thanks to Dr. Wong and the staff at both the Oncology and Palliative Care Units at the St. Boniface Hospital. If friends so desire, donations in Ediths memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or Firefighters Burn Fund, 202 - 666 St. James St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 3J6.
