MARY FERLAND Mary was born Friday, June 27, 1930 at Grand Rapids, MB where she was raised and met the love of her life, John Ferland. They were united in marriage Friday, July 11, 1952 and throughout their marriage were blessed with 12 children. Mary was a devoted servant of the Lord. She gave with all her heart and served the Lord until her death. Mary played an important role in her community. She was a member of the A.C.W. and will always be remembered for her generous and whole hearted commitment to her community. She was a true volunteer. Peacefully, Sunday, October 14, 2001, with her loving family and friends by her side, Mary found the strength and guidance from the Creator above to find the road that led her home at the age of 71 years. She is survived by her children, Lloyd (Isabelle), Lorraine (Wayne), Georgina (Brian), Valerie (Lloyd), Brenda (Gabe), Larry (Stephanie), Carl (Delores), Levina (Kevin), Melina (Dwayne), Cindy (Shawn), Zerlina (Gary) special daughters, Elsie (Gordie), Ella (Jim), and Sarah; 32 grandchildren; seven great-grand-children; sisters, Dora (Joe) Buck, and Florence McKay; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Mary was predeceased by her husband John (1993) sons, Floyd (1964), and Bernie (1995) adoptive parents, Solomon and Annie Cook; and birth mother Mary Head (Atkinson). The wake service was held Tuesday, October 16 at the residence of Valerie Fourre, Grand Rapids, and Wednesday, October 17 at St. Alexanders Church Hall, Grand Rapids. The funeral service was held Thursday, October 18 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Anglican Church, Grand Rapids, MB, with Rev. Bruce Constant presiding. Interment took place in St. Alexanders Cemetery, Grand Rapids. Active pallbearers were Linton Fredberg, William Ferland, Johnny Lynxleg, Mark Anderton, Jerry Cook, Robert Buck, Mike Fourre, and Glen Ferland. Honorary pallbearers were all her loving grandchildren. Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas, were in care of arrangements. 623-3261.
