CLIFFORD JOHN BANKS 1934 - 2001 "GONE FISHIN" Cliff died quietly and peacefully early in the morning, at Grace Hospital, on the 16th of October, 2001, with Louise, his loving wife of 47 years at his side. Cliff was a loving husband, father, grandpop and brother and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Louise, his two sons, Kerry and wife Betty, Daryl and wife Merry Anne, his daughter Michelle Stark and husband Russell and beloved grandson Tyler. Cliff was born in Winnipeg on April 5, 1934, received his schooling in St. James and apart from a few absences, job related, spent his life in Winnipeg. At Cliffs request there will be no formal service, his family will celebrate his life and remember all the good times and events they enjoyed together over the years. One of the joys that Cliff had was salmon fishing in the Chilliwack, BC area and he had many successful casts (followed by salmon suppers) over the years. Cliff was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 4, and as a Life Member spent many happy times in that fellowship. Cremation has taken place, and after the family celebration Cliff will hear us saying "Gone Fishin" to catch the biggest salmon he ever saw. The family wishes to thank the Firefighter Paramedics who answered the 911 call so promptly and worked so hard as they attempted to revive Cliff. Thanks are also due to the staff of the Emergency Service of Grace Hospital for their compassion and the support they afforded the family. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of ones choice would be appreciated.
