NAOME WINONA CALDER (nee JOHNSTON) Peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2001, Naome aged 72 years, passed into the arms of the Lord surrounded by her family. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Cecil Calder; her two daughters, Barbara Calder and Brenda Calder; son-in-law Arnold Goetz; three grandchildren, Chantelle (John), Danielle, Philip; two great-grandchildren, Brenda and Mackenzie; sister Nada Bell (Bill) nephews, Denis Bell (Marlene), Bill Bell; brother-in-law Don Calder (Inez) niece Donna Jean Crawford (Carl). Naome was predeceased by her brother Dellas and his wife Win. Naome was born November 28, 1928 in Ninga, MB. Her and Cecil lived in Winnipeg, Seven Sisters, Thompson, Great Falls and finally in Lac du Bonnet beside the river she greatly loved. She worked as a teacher and dental office manager in various communities and belonged to numerous organizations such as the Womens Institute, Health Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary, Pine Falls United Church, the Choir in Pine Falls United Church and in Lac du Bonnet she was a member of the St. Johns Anglican Church where she studied and was certified as a Lay Reader. Naome fought a courageous battle with cancer and gave support and love to others struggling with cancer. Her deep, strong faith in God sustained her and she shone brightly to all those who knew her. She never lost the joy she found in life and was a loving and caring person who always helped her family and others who needed her help. She will be greatly missed. A heartfelt thank you to the Staff of the Riverview Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Ward and to Dr. Jan Mulder for the care and compassion shown to Naome. Also sincere gratitude to the nurses and home care givers in Lac du Bonnet for their genuine care and concern which allowed her to enjoy the summer in her own home by the river. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service in her memory will be held on Monday, October 22 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Johns Anglican Church, Lac du Bonnet, MB with Rev. Brian Rountree officiating. Her cremated remains will be interred in the Riverland Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Manitoba Foundation for Cancer Research, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB.
