VICTOR C. McKEE Dad passed away on October 11, 2001 in British Columbia at 80 years of age. He leaves his family: his wife Lenore; daughter Margaret (Bill) and their children, Kezia and Mila; son Patrick and his son Jordan; daughter Heather (Doug) and their son Victor; his youngest son Stephen; and sisters, Joy and Joan; brothers, Ward and Paul. Dad was born in West Quaco, NB in 1921. At a very young age he enlisted with the New Brunswick Rangers and served overseas with the Black Watch. After the war, Dad headed west and into the territories, as store manager and fur trader with The Hudsons Bay Company. During his stay in Fort Nelson, BC, he met Lenore Perret, the local schoolteacher, who would become his wife in 1956. Dad switched careers at age 50, working tirelessly for the Childrens Aid Society in Manitoba until his retirement in 1986. Dad was proud of his individuality, eccentric though it was at times, evidenced in his writings and paintings. We will remember him for his love of family, his insightful observations on the human condition, his sense of humour and his deep compassion and generosity toward the vulnerable. "....remember that in life I never said goodbye to anyone: so long, its been nice to know you, or see you later... (In death) that still stands. Therefore when you stand with tears streaming down your cheeks and cast your eyes on my waxen countenance, just remember he wouldnt have said goodbye even if he had a chance to ". - Victor C. McKee, 1980. Memorial service and interment will take place in New Brunswick at a later date. Condolences can be sent to P.O. Box 42134, RPO Ferry Rd., Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3X7.
