ARCHIBALD WILLIAM (BILL) MacINTYRE It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Bill MacIntyre, on Sunday, October 21, 2001 at home. Surrounded by his family in life and in death, he will be greatly missed by his wife Olga; his children, Kent (Janine), Cara (Neil), Brett (Vera) and Drew (Barbara). He leaves a void in the lives of his grandchildren, Erin and Brad MacIntyre, Conor and Laura Chandler, and Mark MacIntyre. He is survived by his siblings, Betty, Marion (Art) and Gary (Diane). Bill was born March 28, 1931 in Glencoe, ON. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at age 17. During his 29 years of service as a pilot, he travelled the world extensively. From the Arctic to Tanzania, from the Far East to Europe, Bill experienced the world. Upon retirement from the Armed Forces, he joined Transport Canada as a Civil Aviation Inspector, retiring in 1988. His sense of adventure, as well as his qualities of hard work, perseverance, tolerance and fairness were passed down to his children, for which they are eternally grateful. In retirement, Bill enjoyed gardening, curling, and continued to travel extensively around the world with his family. He also cherished his winter trips to Palm Springs, Texas and Las Vegas. He was a member of the Granite Curling Club and the St. James No. 4 Legion for many years. Bill, Olga and their family enjoyed many happy years at their summer home at Winnipeg Beach. The grandchildren will especially miss the many fun-filled hours of play with Grandpa. His vivid imagination inspired hours of make-believe play. Whether playing with frogs at the lake or being chased by the "wild beast", Bills grandchildren formed a special bond with him. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 24 at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. The family wishes to thank Drs. Maksymiuk, Sandha, Ahmen and Mazowita as well as Dr. Arora of the Mayo Clinic for their professionalism and compassion. A special thank you to Dr. Ken Hahlweg for his compassion and exceptional care during Bills illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bills memory to CancerCare Manitoba or The Childrens Wish Foundation. Forever loved and remembered. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
