MARY AGNES BUMSTED (July 19, 1913 - October 20, 2001) Mary Agnes Bumsted died peacefully in Central Park Lodge, Winnipeg, after a long illness. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Emma Schillert, and by her husband, John Francis Bumsted in 1970. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, John and David; her daughter-in-law Wendy; her grandchildren, Jonathan (and his wife Kristen), Carla (and her husband Kyle), Hannah, Sian, Michael, Keely, Beth, David and Katie; and her great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Thomas. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Mary Schillert Bumsted was raised in Hartford, Connecticut, and spent most of her life in the New York and southern New England areas. During the Second World War, she worked for the Milk Market Administration in New York City as a pioneer IBM keypunch operator, and she remained at the cutting edge of keypunch and computer technology for office management throughout the remainder of her working life. She retired from the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics Corporation in 1978. After a serious illness in 1982, Mary immigrated to Canada to be with her family and her grandchildren, and she spent many happy years in Winnipeg surrounded by her loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all her family. A memorial service will be held in the Prince of Peace Chapel at St. Georges Crescentwood Church on Wednesday, October 24 at 1:30 p.m. No flowers please. Donations in her memory may be made to the refugee fund at St. Georges Church. The family wishes to thank the staff of Central Park Lodge for many years of loving care.
