Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER SWIDNICKI Peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital, Walter Swidnicki passed away October 20, 2001. Walter was born in the Ukraine in 1928, he immigrated to Canada with his parents after the Second World War, settling in Portage la Prairie. He was predeceased by his parents, Katherine and Lucas, brothers, Roman and John Swidnicki and two stepchildren who called him Dad, Peter Swidnicki, Debbie Durrell and her infant daughter Arden. Walter leaves to mourn his passing his son Edward Swidnicki and Claudette Venne and Eds daughter Kolina, daughter Pauline and Don Reynolds and children, Kerry, Heidi and Amanda, his childrens mother Grace Swidnicki, grandson Dayna Durrell, brother Mike and Anne Swidnicki, sister-in-law Margaret Swidnicki and many nieces and nephews. Walter worked for a sugar beet farmer in the St. Eustache area when he first came to Canada. He then developed skill in autobody repair and worked for local dealerships before starting and operating a family run business for over 15 years, until his retirement. He enjoyed cooking, entertaining, gardening and to travel. The last few years of his life he enjoyed the company of his special friend Pauline Puff. Prayers will be held October 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Omega Funeral Home, funeral service October 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption in Portage la Prairie. Rev. Deacon Michael Strilec officiating.
