ERNA SOPHIE ENGBRECHT (nee BRAUN) It is with deep sorrow we say goodbye to an extraordinary woman - daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. She was born on August 24, 1938 in Winnipeg, MB. Erna passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 21, 2001, at 7:10 a.m. of a massive hemorrhagic stroke. A woman of seemingly unshakable principles, Erna knew how to surrender to the Divine - in her life and in her death. Her diminutive size disguised a giant soul with vast ability to love unconditionally. She was a teacher of life to family and friends yet she believed she was more the student on her journey through life. Her well-thought out, intensely examined and practiced philosophy of life was simple but had enormous implications regarding how one - how she - should live - with integrity. Erna is survived by her loving husband of 42 years of marriage, Henry; son Victor, daughter-in-law Eileen (Reimer), their children, David, Rachel, Jessica and Johanna; and by her daughter Geraldine De Braune; her parents, Nick and Helen Braun of Morris; sisters, Helen Friesen (Pete), Elvira Nodzel (Hal), Ruth Coates (Gordon), Charlotte Burch (Mark), Leona Gerbrandt (Leonard) her brothers, Nick Braun (Janet), Art Braun (Sharon), Harry Braun (Suzanne), and her twin brother Ernie Braun (Linda) sister-in-law Margaret Camplin (Terry) brothers-in-law, Rudi Engbrecht (Sharron), George Engbrecht (Rita), Don Engbrecht (Betty) and Ernie Engbrecht (Annie) and by many nieces, nephews and volumes of dear friends. She was predeceased by brother-in-law Ken Klassen, nephew Darren Nodzel, mother-in-law Margaret Engbrecht (nee Albrecht), and father-in-law John Engbrecht. Relatives and friends may call for viewing on Wednesday evening, October 24, between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojciks All Beliefs & Faiths Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Ave. at Sharp Boulevard, and prior to Ernas funeral service which will be held on Thursday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave., with Rev. Franz Wiebe officiating. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Ernas memory to the Bethania Life Enrichment Fund, 1045 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 3S7. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His names sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. WOJCIKS ALL BELIEFS & FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
