Offer Condolences or MemoryGUDRUN ANNA (LOA) EYOLFSON (THORDARSON) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Loa Eyolfson of Gimli, on Wednesday, October 24, 2001, at the Gimli Betel Home Foundation at the age of 81 years. She leaves surviving daughters, Gloria (Jack) Zacharias of Cranbrook, BC and grandchildren, Jeff (Nancy) Zacharias and great-grandchildren, Bryce and Perrin, Scott (Bridgette) Zacharias and great-grandson Jack; Carol (Bob) Thordarson of Gimli, granddaughters, Lori (Troy) Valgardson and great-grandchildren, Nolan and Erin, Linda (Tracy Barkely) Thordarson and great-grandchildren, Megan and Chase. Susan (Les Hanson) and great-granddaughters, Emma and Paige; Jackie (Wayne) Ireland of Gimli and grandchildren, Garrett and Cody; one son Ron (Dolores) Eyolfson of Fort Frances, ON and grandsons, Daryl (Colleen) Eyolfson and great-grandsons, Brett and Dustin, Todd (Joy) Eyolfson and great-grandson Tyler; one brother Johannes (Brodie) Thordarson of Gimli, brother-in-law Oli Josephson of Winnipeg, and numerous relatives and friends. She was predeceased by husband Svein Eyolfur Eyolfson, her parents, Johannes and Nina Thordarson, sister Rosbjorg Josephson and great-granddaughter Samantha. Mom was born in Geysir, MB on August 20, 1920 and lived her early years there, where she married dad and had their family. They moved to Gimli, owned and operated Shorleliner Motel for many years. Loa was an avid curler and received many numerous trophies, along with an honorary lifetime membership to the Gimli Curling Club in 1982, she also is one of a few who belong to the 8-ender club. One of Loas passions in life was bingo, that is where you would find her almost every evening of the week. Her grandchildren will be her honorary pallbearers. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 29 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gimli Lutheran Church, with Pastor George Johnson officiating. Interment to follow in the Geysir Cemetery. Special thanks to the staff at Betel Home Foundation, Gimli. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends and family so desire, donations may be made in Loas name to the Betel Home Foundation in Gimli, Box 10, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0. Loa was an unconditional loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She always had her arms open and door open to anyone that needed a hug, cup of coffee, or a bed for the night. She leaves family and friends with wonderful memories. We will all miss her deeply. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli, in care of arrangements.
