EVELYN WYRZYKOWSKI (nee SCHAEFFER) Evelyn - everyones Mom! Proud mother and grandmother. Evelyn leaves countless family and friends to cherish her memories, including her mother, Frances Schaeffer, husband Conrad, children, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and grandchildren. Evelyn has always been motivated to work through the church in service to the people of God. Her activities to this end included the Girl Guides, the Interfaith Pastoral Institute, the Ursuline Sisters; Couple Ministry through marriage encounters and retreats at Villa Maria and across Canada; the Pro-Life movement as a co-founder, with a special devotion for the unwed mothers and others in need who lived in her home for extended periods of time; LArche Winnipeg, founded by Jean Vanier, for the challenged and disabled, which she helped originate and continued for over 30 years as a companion and accompanier. Among the honorariums Evelyn received, was the Queens Jubilee Medal for Community Service, the Interfaith Pastoral Institute Service Award, the CWL National Life Membership Award, the Father Gorieu Lay Apostle Award and the St. Boniface Archdiocese Evangelium Award. Her primary devotion to Gods people was her 35 years of active commitment to the Catholic Womens League culminating in her National Presidency. She encouraged and promoted leadership, public participation, and strove to show God fully present in the League. Mom was a trusted listener. She was always understanding, never judgemental, always supportive and completely confidential. It was comfortable and nourishing to be in her presence. Her gift of finding "good" in every situation motivated others to do the same. Her devotion to her extended family and her husband exemplified the joyful sacredness of marriage. As a couple, they inspired love in all who knew them. Prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons, Winnipeg. Funeral mass will be presided over by Bishop Remi J. DeRoo with clergy friends concelebrating at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27 at Notre Dame de Lorette Parish, Lorette, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, Wyrzykowski Family Endowment Fund, would be greatly appreciated. (409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2H 2N6). A beautiful live came to an end She died as she lived - everyones friend She was always loving, thoughtful and kind What a precious memory she left behind Treasure her, God, in your garden at rest For in our world, she was one of the best
