EDWIN W. BAILEY Dad passed away peacefully on October 22, 2001 at the age of 85 years. Predeceased by his father James Emerson during the flu epidemic in 1918; his mother and stepfather, Helen and Bill Watkinson; and infant son Clifford Emerson. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Doreen; son Glenn (Gloria), daughters, Lynn Underwood (Bruce), Barb Friesen (Dave), son Ward (Gail) grandchildren, Sheri Bailey (David Steinke), Brett Bailey (Angela), Todd (Kathy Knecht) and Meaghan Underwood, Matthew and Sean Friesen, Kristin and Kyle Bailey; great-grandchildren, Vayda Steinke and Breela Bailey. Ed was fascinated with radio at an early age and acquired his ham radio license as VE4WB in 1937. He spent many hours talking to other hams around the world. This led to his position as a radio technician with the RCMP D Division, where he worked until retirement in 1976. His other passion was Lake of the Woods, tenting, fishing and travelling as far as possible around the lake. Eventually we settled at Bigstone Lodge, where Ed could always be found working at something. When his health began to fail, there was always someone from the Bigstone family, on hand to help him out. He didnt always accept help graciously, but it was certainly much appreciated. At Eds request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Should friends so wish, a donation to a charity of their choice would be appreciated. A come and go gathering of family and friends will be held at 29 Blueridge Bay on Saturday, October 27, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
