A. MARIE LINTON 1931 - 2001 Suddenly, on Wednesday, October 24, 2001, Marie passed away at her residence. Marie is survived by her three children, Shelley (Paul Trudeau), Michael (Mona) and Terrence; and her five grandchildren, Anthony, JD, Justin, Megan and Lauren. Marie was born in Russel, MB, one of 11 children, of which four survive her, Ritchie, Jean, Edith and Norman (Bud). Marie grew up in Pelly, SK. She moved to Winnipeg to work for MTS after she completed her schooling. Maries family was very important to her and her home was a frequent stop for her brothers and sisters and their children. Marie married Mike Sr. in 1954. They spent their entire married lives in Fort Rouge, where they shared many pursuits including ten pin bowling and golf. Mike Sr. predeceased Marie in 1994. Marie was very active in the community, serving in all capacities at Earl Grey Community Centre for 20 years, including a long term as club president. She also volunteered at the MLGA. Marie was a competitive bowler and golfer. She represented Manitoba at the World Bowling Championships in Texas. In golf, a game she took up when she was 50, she had been the senior womens club champion at St. Boniface Golf Club. Marie worked at MTS from the time she arrived in Winnipeg until the birth of her daughter in 1963. She resumed her career at MTS when all her children were in school. She retired from MTS in 1991. Marie enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren, and recently spent three weeks with Lauren in Vancouver. She had introduced her grandsons to golf and encouraged Megan and Justin in their pursuits. Her grandchildren particularly enjoyed her skills as a storyteller. Marie shared her wonderful smile, her sparkling eyes and sense of humour with everyone who met and knew her. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all her family and friends. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 27, at 10:00 a.m., at Harrow United Church, 955 Mulvey Ave. Viewing will be one-half hour prior to service.
