Left to mourn Kellys passing, his wife of 50 years Marlene; sons and daughters, Dwight (Bev), Wesley, Lori, Patti (Rich), Kelly (Mary-Ann) grandchildren, Bev (Todd), Brenda, Michelle, Brian, John (Jennifer) and Kristy; great-grandchildren, Zachery, Meagan, Jamie, Theresa, Ryan and Candra; brothers and sisters, Ian (Margaret), Raymond (Chick) (Bev), John (JC) (Cathy), Blair (Eileen), Monica (George), and Betty (Jacque). He was predeceased by his parents, Alice and Alfred and brother Allen (Ducky). Kelly was born on August 31, 1930 in Selkirk, MB, and had resided there all his life with the exception of four years, during which he served with the R.C.A.f. He worked as a printer and he owned and operated the C&O Solo Store in Selkirk. Prior to retirement he worked for the Coast Guard (C.C.G.S. Namao). Dad enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, hunting, boating, fishing, and travelling. He spent many summers at the cabin, being by the lake, which he enjoyed so much. Kelly loved to feed his chickens (birds), sit in his special chair with a view of the neighborhood. He was an avid reader and loved to share his wonderful cooking and baking. Kelly had a great sense of humour and will always be remembered as a mischievous joker. He had a nickname for all his kids and was very proud of his wife, family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kelly was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He will be remembered as a generous, down to earth, supportive and loving husband, dad, papa and great-papa. An evening prayer service will be held on Monday, October 29, at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, with Rev. Hugh Laidlaw officiating. At Kellys request, cremation will follow with interment to be held at a later date. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the Selkirk Ambulance for all their gentle and caring ways shown to Kelly. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 401-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8.
