DOROTHY GLADYS McCLELLAND 1917 - 2001 With sorrow the family wishes to announce the sudden passing of Dorothy at the Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg on October 23, 2001. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; her husband Reginald; her infant daughter Carol; her grandson Travis; and her sisters, Maude and Bernice. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her children, James (Patricia), Judy (Stan), Douglas (Gayle), Kenneth (Dianne), Robert (Lisa), Wayne (Janice) brother-in-law William Janzen; her sisters, Maxine (Dan), and Irene (Mel). She will also be greatly missed by her 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dorothy was born in the Marais district on November 23, 1917, the eldest daughter of David and Blanche Dillabough. In 1942 she married Reginald McClelland and moved two miles to the farm where she lived until moving into Emerson in 1983. Dorothy led a busy and active life. First raising a family and looking after the family farm following the sudden death of Reg in 1960, then caring for her mother until her death in 1970. Dorothy also worked at the Emerson Hospital for many years. Dorothy was also active in many community organizations including the Marais-Letellier Community Club, Royal Purple, Emerson New Horizons, Emerson United Church, and her beloved Marais Hall. She was an avid card player and one of her last concerns was that she had an upcoming date to play cards with her close friends. In spite of her busy life Dorothy always had time for her family, and her many friends and acquaintances. The welcome mat was always out and Dorothy thought nothing of whipping up a meal at a moments notice. Mom was a loving and caring person and she will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the Emerson Ambulance Service and the staff at Altona Memorial Hospital for the attention and care given. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 27 at 2:00 p.m. from the St. Andrews United Church in Emerson, MB, with interment to follow in the Emerson Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Wiebe Funeral Home, Altona, on Friday, October 26 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. Flowers are gratefully declined in favour of donations to the Marais Hall Board or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB M3B 2H8. Wiebe Funeral Home, Altona, in care of arrangements.
