MILDRED AGNES TOEWS (nee COSTELLO) June 4, 1921 - October 18, 2001 Peacefully with her son at her side, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and great-grandmother. Mildred passed away at South Okanagan Hospital Extended Care Unit in Oliver, BC, widow of Edward Toews. Mildred was predeceased by her parents, Valentine and Marie Costello; by her husband Edward Toews in 1982; brothers, George and Edward Costello; sister Margaret Rose Phipps; son Robert and wife Bernice Toews. Mildred was raised in Stonewall, MB and graduated high school there. She married Edward Toews, a Hong Kong Veteran, on February 5, 1948. They lived in Kenora, ON from 1947 until they retired in 1968 to the Okanagan in Osoyoos, BC. She served two terms as President of Osoyoos Legion Ladies Auxiliary after Ed passed away. Left to cherish her memory are sons Michael (Ernestine), Ralph (Vivian) and Dick (Gay) grandchildren, Edward, Collette, Darrell, Miles Robin, Gill, Trevor, and Dawn; sisters, Joyce Rose and Ethel Hawkins; and brother Gordon Costello; as well as many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
