DAVID SCOTT Dad passed away peacefully at the Deer Lodge Centre on October 25, 2001 at age 89. He is survived by three loving sons, David, Robert (Janice) and Angus (Fay) grandchildren Nancy, Rob, Kevin and Julie (Steve). He was predeceased in 1989 by Ada, his wife of 47 years. Born in Winnipeg in 1912 and raised in the Brooklands area, his early employment included driving taxi for Moores and installing oil burners. He had a lifelong interest in airplanes and obtained his pilots license in 1936. He worked as a licensed mechanic with MacDonald Brothers and later with Air Canada as an inspector at the Winnipeg overhaul base. Mom and Dad were married in 1942 and raised three sons on Rutland Street in St. James. After his retirement in 1947, they moved to an acreage in the Baie St. Paul area. Dad was a gifted mechanic and machinist as well as an excellent carpenter. During his lifetime he built two aircraft and in his later years developed an interest in making guitars and a violin. His family and friends reaped the benefits of his skills throughout his life. He was much loved by his four grandchildren who enjoyed spending time at the "farm" with "Pop", riding with him on the tractor or dune buggy, going to the fair or enjoying the fine dining at the MacDonalds in Portage. Dad was a longtime member of both the St. James United and Poplar Point United Churches. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, October 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with Rev. Don McIntyre officiating. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff on 6 West at Deer Lodge for their compassion and exceptional care. Flowers are gratefully declined. Instead, donations may be made in Dads memory to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1932, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3R2, or a charity of your choice. If you wish an acknowledgement to be sent please include the appropriate address. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
