DORIS ISABEL BRIGHTY Doris Isabel Brighty died peacefully at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg on October 19, 2001. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements made for the interment of her ashes in the grave of her beloved companion, Gene Abbott, in Corning, California. Miss Brighty was born in Winnipeg on June 3, 1910 to Gertrude Emma Cooper and Thomas Brighty. She was predeceased by her parents as well as a brother, Otto and a sister, Jean. In 1963, Miss Brighty moved to California, returning to Winnipeg after the death of her companion, Gene Abbott. Until illness prevented it, Miss Brighty enjoyed living at the Westhaven, where she was able to spend time once again with her lifelong friend Verna Walker, who has since predeceased her. Miss Brighty leaves to celebrate her life relatives and friends in both Canada and the United States. Sincere thanks is given to the staff of the Convalescent Home for providing a caring home and easing the burden of Miss Brightys last years. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
