STANLEY LENOSKI 1916 - 2001 With sorrow and love the family wishes to announce the passing of Stan in his sleep on Friday, October 26, 2001. Stan was predeceased by his father, and mother, Dionys and Klementina, his brothers, Albert and John, and his sisters, Helen and Josie. As a wonderful father and husband, Stan had a enormous positive influence on the remaining members of his immediate family; his wife Betty, who he married in 1942, his children, Danny (Brigitte) and Darlene Phillips (Brian). His grandchildren, Erin Frey (Kelly), Jason (Heather), Anushka, Morgan, Tyler, Stephane, and Graeme will similarly remember him with much love, and thanks for his hard work, and care on their behalf. We all learned from him about the importance of family. He is also survived by his brother Ted (Ruth) and by five great-grandchildren, Alex, Connor, Maclean, Marshall, and Morgan Frey. Stan was born in Trail, B.C., attended Isaac Newton Collegiate in Winnipeg, and started as an apprentice carman for the C.N.R. in 1934. Subsequently, he became a mechanical inspector for the C.N., and eventually General Car Foreman of Fort Rouge Yards. He retired in 1974, having been responsible for several important innovations in passenger service. One of the definitive periods in Stans life occurred when he served overseas with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. He landed at Dieppe with the second wave of the Normandy Invasion in 1944, and participated in the Battle of the Schedlt. He was proud of having fought for Canada, but deplored war, and vigorously promoted the qualities of peace, tolerance and love. Stan enjoyed playing, watching, and talking hockey, bowling, and a competitive game of cards, especially when camping with his family. He also loved to fix things. He was extremely hard working. He worked hard for others. He was a good friend, and highly ethical person. Prayers will be held on Sunday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 264 Donwood Drive, with Rev. Fr. Ray Baudry presiding. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the staff of the Kildonan Personal Care Centre, Dr. J. Regehr, and Father Ray Baudry for their kindness. Dad, and Grandad, you will always be in our hearts, with much love. KNYSH FUNERAL CHAPEL 1020 MAIN STREET 582-0973
