WILLIAM (BILL) SHUMILA William (Bill) Shumila passed away peacefully with his wife and family by his side on Friday, October 26, 2001 at the age of 94. Bill is survived by his loving wife Annie, of 64 years. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his four children, Mort, Elmer (Valerie), Valerie Fey (Clifford) and Leslie (Debbie) his eight grandchildren, Rick (Lana), Ken (Shannon), Kim, Greg, Lindsey and Bradley Shumila, Angela Fey, Amanda Fey-Lockwood (Anthony) and his four great-grandchildren, Mary and Max, and Nathan and Mathew; his brother Peter (Stella) his sister-in-law Jean Shumila; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Sadie and Steve; his brothers, Henry, Fred, John and Paul; sisters, Mary Krempasky, Anne Baillie and Victoria (infant) and great-grandson, Jesse. Bill was born February 14, 1907 at Brokenhead, MB, where he and his wife farmed and raised their family. In 1964, he and his family moved to Winnipeg, but he continued to farm part-time until the mid-70s. The land was his passion. He maintained large gardens until unable to continue due to health reasons. Bill and his devoted wife, Annie, were able to embrace a full life enjoying their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill and Annie had the good fortune to travel to many destinations throughout the world with family and friends. Bill was a quiet, gentle man who valued the goodness of his life. The family would like to thank the staff of the Winnipeg Convalescent Home, Bills residence for the past 5 years, for their care and support. Prayers will be said on Monday, October 29 at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Sobering Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, October 30 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Beausejour Cemetery.
