DOUGLAS HENRY BUELL On Monday, October 29, 2001, at the Portage District General Hospital, Douglas Buell a resident of the Manitoba Development Centre, Portage la Prairie, passed away at the age of 79 years. Funeral service will be held at the Aspen Centre, Manitoba Development Centre, Portage la Prairie on Thursday, November 1 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ron Siemens officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at the Greenwood Cemetery, Carman, MB. Douglas was born on April 30, 1922, son of Harry and Evelyn Buell at Carman. After completion of his education he moved west where he was employed as a farm labour-rancher in Alberta. Later he was employed in the timber-logging industry in British Columbia, before returning to Manitoba. On February 27, 1989 he became a resident of the Manitoba Development Centre. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing the accordion. When he first came to the Manitoba Development Centre he enjoyed watching T.V., playing games, and cards. Later he enjoyed the outdoors, especially sitting in the sun on warm summer days. He is predeceased by two brothers, Bill and Bob. He leaves to mourn his passing his two brothers, Larry and Alyce of Saskatoon, and Jim of Fort McMurray, AB; and sister Helen and Wayne Defoe of Swan River. Also surviving is a sister-in-law Kay Buell of Winnipeg. Friends may call at the Aspen Centre for visitation prior to the funeral service. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Residents Benefit Fund, in care of Manitoba Development Centre, P.O. Box 1190, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3C6.
