LAING November 18, 1915- November 1, 2001 Peacefully on November 1, 2001, George Duncan Laing passed away at the Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall. George is survived by his loving wife Mary of 59 years. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his two children, Norma (Bill) Ridgeway and Garnet (Lindsae) his six grandchildren, Tracy (Dick) Proctor, Kelly, Beth (Daniel), Robert, Ryan and Sherri-Leanne (Murray) and his two great-grandchildren, Baily Proctor and Sonny Bryce Clearsky; his brother John (Jean) his brother-in-law Hamie Nelson, sister-in-law Winnie, brother-in-law Vernon (Dorothy) Sund; and many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his parents R.D. and Bessie; his brother Douglas; sisters, Margaret, Mary and Allison; sister-in-law Henerietta (Tom) Fairbairn; brother-in-law Norman (Kay) Sund; and grandson Richard Ridgeway. George served his country during the Second World War in the Canadian Army Artillery. He appreciated life to the fullest, enjoying grain and livestock farming, carpentry, and his hobbies of gardening, antique machinery, music and entertaining family and friends, in many ways. He will be remembered for his humour, kindness and dedication to his family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Rosewood Lodge, Georges residence for the past several years, for their care and support. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall, with Rev. Mary Best officiating. Fellowship to follow at the Grosse Isle Hall. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Georges memory to a charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
