BERNIECE GWENDOLYN McBEAN (nee CANNEM) Peacefully on Thursday, November 1, 2001 at Deer Lodge Centre, Berniece, beloved mother, grandma, and great-grandma. Mom will be lovingly rememberer and forever missed by her four children, Wendy and Bob Heisinger, Marilyn and Dario Pezzolla, William (Bill) and Marlene McBean, and Gordon and Janice McBean, all of Winnipeg; seven grandchildren, Kim (Peter) Liden, Shannon (Kirk) Smith, Krista (Norman) Frost, Kyle Heisinger, Kevin (Alexa), Colleen and Sean McBean; and great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Spencer, Claire, Maxwell, Jordanna; as well as her friend and companion of many years, Julius Rentz. Berniece was predeceased by her husband Norman in 1983, sister Lillian McNeill in 1990 and brother Gordon Cannem in 1990. Born October 8, 1916 in Winnipeg, she attended Laura Secord and Gordon Bell High School. Through her love of the outdoors and involvement in the Lafalot Snowshoe Club she met and married Norman McBean in 1942. Mom and Dad enjoyed square dancing, socializing and vacations at the family cottage at Lake of the Woods. Children were a large part of her life. She had a loving hand in raising her grandchildren and each had a special relationship with her. Neighbourhood children were always welcome in her yard. Mom was a lifetime member of St. Patrick Anglican Church, worked part time at Eatons, was active in the West End Senior Centre and Lawn Bowling, CNIB Volunteers, and enjoyed her bridge group and circle of close friends. The family would like to thank the staff of 3 South at Grace Hospital and the staff of 5 West at Deer Lodge Centre for their loving care over the last year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Moms memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Deer Lodge Centre Foundation. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
