EDITH MAY GARTON With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother at her home on October 31, 2001 at the age of 84. She was predeceased by her daughter Ivy Joy and her granddaughter Sherry. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Bill; beloved children, Billie (Allan), Charlie (Heather), John, Bob (Angie), Pat, Jean, Judy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; relatives and friends. Edie was born in England December 25, 1916, moved to Canada when young and married Bill in Kenton United Church September 5, 1942. As well as raising a large family Edie was very active in community organizations. She sang in the United Church choir for many years. Edie enjoyed her independence after acquiring her drivers license in her middle age. Any excuse to drive had Edie in her car, shopping, visiting friends and travelling to spend time with her numerous children and grandchildren. One of Edies passions in life was reading every Harlequin romance that was ever printed and then reading it again two or three times. Another passion in later life was playing Scrabble and Yahtzee with her close friends. Edie also looked forward to spending happy hours with her grandchildren anytime they could come and visit. We wish to especially thank the home care staff for their tender care whose assistance allowed Edie to remain in her family home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Edies name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held November 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Kenton United Church with Rev. Larry Todd officiating. Deep are the memories Precious they stay No passing of time Can take them away "Forever in our hearts" Arrangements entrusted to Campbell Funeral Home, Hamiota.
