Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife, Ethel; daughters, Heather and her husband Philip Gies, and Gwenn; and grandchildren, Wendy (Warren), Michael (Joanna), Annie, Kelly, Duncan, and Andrew; and great-grandchildren, Benny and Abi Shewchuk. He is also survived by Ethels sons Bill Armstrong and David (Thelma) Armstrong and their children and grandchildren; his sister Marjorie of Port Colborne , and his brother Mickey McDonald (Pat) of Florida; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Mabel; sisters, Kathleen and Helen; and his first wife Marion in 1980. Lloyd was born in Port Colborne, ON on May 22, 1913. He married Marion Hostrawser on July 19, 1941. He served in the Armed Forces from 1942 to 1943 and received an Honourable Discharge. Lloyd and Marion raised their family in Port Colborne until September 1960, when they moved to Thompson, MB. Lloyds career with INCO spanned 40 years were he began as a shift electrician in 1935 and retired in 1974 as Superintendent of Maintenance, Manitoba Division. He and Marion moved to Winnipeg and spent time in California and Guatemala where Lloyd worked as a consultant for INCO on the Guatemala project (Exmibal). Marion died in the spring of 1980, they were married 40 years. Lloyd married Ethel Armstrong, a friend of many years, and they recently celebrated 21 years of happiness. They loved travelling, gardening, and entertaining family and friends. They were members of Kirkfield Park United Church. Lloyd lived his life fully, believing that one should take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way and that a job worth doing is worth doing well. He had a great sense of humour and a dry wit. He was always able to see the bright side in any situation. His quiet inner strength helped him through many adversities in his life. His greatest joy was the pleasure he took from his family. The family wishes to thank the Cardiac Care Unit at Health Sciences Centre for their loving care of Lloyd and their skillful compassion as they led our family through this past week. Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, November 8, at 1:00 p.m., at Kirkfield Park United Church, 472 Kirkfield Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lloyds memory to the Kirkfield Park United Church Memorial Fund, 472 Kirkfield Street, Winnipeg, MB R3K 1E6, or to a charity of your choice.
