VICTOR CHAMPAGNE Dad passed away peacefully on November 5, 2001 at the age of 81 years. Victor leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Josephine (nee Pelletier) his children, Jacques (Sylvia), Marcel (Kathleen), Suzanne (Terry) Young, Lucille (Larry) Laliberte, Annette (Gilles) Courcelles, Denis (Lise) his 16 grandchildren, Claude and Renee Champagne, Joseph, Andre, Rachel and David Champagne, Robyn, Carrie and Stacey Young, Lance and Lindsay Laliberte, Daniel and Robert Courcelles, and Veronique, Gabrielle and Maxime Champagne. He is also survived by his sisters, Robertine Desmarais and Andrea (Jack) Wagner; his half-brother Fernand Manaigre; and all his in-laws, nieces and nephews. Victor was predeceased by his father Victor; his mother Rose-Anna (Lafond) and sisters, Elodie, Gabrielle, and Geralda. Victor was born on August 28, 1920 in, MB. He moved to Lorette in 1930 and left for the Second World War in 1939, returning in 1945 as a Sergeant. He was with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. Victor married Josephine in 1950 and they farmed for 32 years. He was also a school bus driver for 21 years. When he retired, he started golfing which he enjoyed. Victor and Josephine loved to travel throughout Canada and the United States. A very special thanks to the staff at the Riverview Health Centre wing E3. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 8 at the Notre-Dame de Lorette Roman Catholic Church, Lorette, MB. Interment of the cremated remains will follow in the parish cemetery. God saw him getting tired, And a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him, And whispered, "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched him suffer, And saw him fade away, Although we loved him dearly, We could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest.
