WILLIAM "BILL" HENRY GRANT 1918 - 2001 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father and brother, Bill Grant, after many years with Alzheimers, on Monday, November 5, 2001, at Deer Lodge Centre surrounded by his loving family. Bill leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife Mirriam; sons, Ross (Kathie), Doug (Margaret) and daughter Linda; sister Marion Hodgson and niece Judith Kelly; sister-in-law Marie Walters and nieces, Kathie and Penny. He was predeceased by his parents, Percy and Edith; special aunts, Tina Belle and Annie Grant. Bill was born in 1918 and raised in Winnipeg. In September, 1939, he joined the Canadian Army and served until 1966. He had a wonderful year with the Manitoba Centennial Corp. in 1967 and from there he served as Registrar with the Red River Community College for 15 years. He was a faithful member of St. James United Church and served as secretary for some years with the Finance Committee. He enjoyed most, working with the men, trimming the hedges, etc., and also the Sunday trips to help with the wheelchairs at the municipal hospitals. Bill had many talents - drawing, painting, drafting and carpentry. While posted to Kingston, ON, he built a boat and took his family down the Rideau and small lakes. At age 59, he with Ross, Doug and Linda, built their summer cottage. He loved animals and was always taking in hurt strays. He enjoyed music, dancing, and the Deer Lodge T3 staff encouraged him during his time there. We are so grateful for the loving care and kindness shown Bill by this wonderful group of care givers. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, November 9 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. with Rev. Don McIntyre officiating. A private interment will be held at Brookside Cemetery. A special thank you to Rev. Aubrey Hemminger for the spiritual solace given so many times to both Bill and Mirriam. Should friends desire, donations in Bills memory may be made to Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Ave., Wpg., MB, R3J 0L3. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1858 Portage Avenue, 949-4872
