Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE WIENHOLD On Thursday, November 8, 2001, after a long journey at the age of 92, our beloved mother, Oma and Omi, Gertrude Wienhold (nee Unger) arrived home with the Lord. She was born in Orlofferfelde, Germany, on May 6, 1909. Oma trained as a master seamstress, married in 1938 and had three daughters. Oma immigrated to Canada in 1951 with her two oldest daughters. Oma worked many years in her profession to support her children and dedicated her life to family. Her invincible faith carried her and her family through many hardships and inspired those around her. Oma enjoyed gardening, knitting and nurturing her grandchildren. Oma was predeceased by her husband Erich; infant daughter Christel; brothers, Heinrich and Gerhard; sister Lenchen; and sister-in-law Frieda Stamer. Oma will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her daughter Emma Dranez (Frank), grandchildren, Susan (Timm), Doris (John), David (Cindy) daughter Edie Hahlweg (George), grandchildren, Ron (Cheryl), Gord (Paula), Ken (Lynne) 13 great-grandchildren; and sister Anna Wahnfried; and many nieces and nephews in Germany. Prayer service will be held on Monday, November 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 1:00 p.m. at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 370 McKenzie. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home for the care they gave Oma over the past three years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Omas memory to a charity of ones choice. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
