EVA PEARL BROCKLESBY (nee JOHNSTON) Eva Pearl Brocklesby, eldest daughter of the late Ashley and Letitia Johnston, passed on to a life of peace in our Gods world on Thursday, November 8, 2001, at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 86 years. The special family she leaves to mourn her are Mary and Clifford Nichols, Ross and Donna Johnston and so very special to her: grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kevin, Cari, Morgan, Tanya, David, Kayla, Krystal, Dale, Shelly and Tyson. She will also be missed by her nine "McInnes" nieces and nephews, many special families that she acquired in her city life; Frank and Jeana Radomsky and families, Pamela and Hubert Reinke and families and the "very special" caregivers at the "Golden Door." She was predeceased by her husband Ernie in 1946, daughter Claudia in 1947, her father in 1952, mother in 1959, brother Earl in 1988, sister Dorothy in 1999. Eva was born December 6, 1914, in Carman, MB. She grew up in the Carman area in her youth and later farmed and lived in the Haywood area. In February of 1945 she married Ernest Claude Brocklesby and resided near Haywood for a year until they moved to British Columbia were Ernie died suddenly. Eve returned to the family home near Haywood until she moved to Winnipeg to live with her daughter and family. Residing there, she acquired an extended family of friends and "adopted" grandchildren, whom gave her lots of happy times. In December of 1995 she moved to the "Golden Door Geriatrics Centre" where she received exceptional care and love. A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, November 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota St., with Rev. Linda Churchill officiating. Mary wishes to express her sincere thanks to the Nichols family for including her mom as one of theirs, for the loving care from friends and neighbours of St. Vital and her "special" Golden Door family. Thanks also to the U.C.W. in Meadowood, our church family for their support. In lieu of flowers, donations in Evas memory may be made to the Golden Door, Activity Department, 1679 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB, R3T 2G6.
