MICHAEL HNATIUK After a courageous battle with cancer, Michael Hnatiuk passed away peacefully on November 7, 2001 at St. Boniface Hospital. He had amazing recuperative powers. Michael was born in Chatfield, MB on April 15, 1922 and raised on a farm near Fisher Branch. Opportunities came in abundance to Michael, who served in the Air Force in the Yukon during his early years and then returned to Winnipeg to work as a street car conductor. Later he returned to Fisher Branch with his family and farmed for 25 years. Upon retiring, he spent most of his time in Winnipeg. Michael will be lovingly remembered by his best friend Yvonne Brasschuk and family of Winnipeg. His daughters, Lorraine Muzyka (Emery) of British Columbia, Elizabeth Pirie (Dave) and grandson James of British Columbia, Marjorie Tokar (Dennis) and grandsons, Jordan and Cory of Winnipeg; brothers, Morris and family of Fisher Branch and Donald and family of Matlock; and his sister Tina Semeniuk and family of British Columbia. Michael was predeceased by his son James in 1981. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Interment to follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Our family extends our heartfelt thanks for the excellent and compassionate care shown to Dad by his longtime physicians, Dr. Cook and Dr. Rusniak, and the nurses of the Oncology Department at the St. Boniface General Hospital, the VON nurses, and also special thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare or St. Boniface General Hospital Palliative Care. A Native American Prayer Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep, I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glint on the snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the swift, uplifting rush, of quiet birds in circling flight, I am the soft starlight at night. Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. KNYSH FUNERAL CHAPEL 582-0973
