LEONARD WESELOWSKI It is with deep sorrow and sadness and with great hope in the promises of Christ that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Leonard Weselowski who was taken by our Lord after several years of ill health on Tuesday, November 6, 2001 at the Selkirk and District Hospital at the age of 61 years. Leaving to forever cherish his memory are his daughter Bernadette and granddaughter Courtney Marquart of Canmore, AB; sons, Greg and Clayton of Winnipeg; brother Emil of Transcona; sisters, Vicki (Victor) Pasternak of Allan, SK, and Elizabeth Weselowski of Winnipeg; as well as four nephews, three nieces, six great-nieces, three great-nephews, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Leonard was predeceased by his brother Lawrence in 1935 (17 days old), his father Alexander in 1981 (85 years), mother Anastasia (nee Smadello) in 1978 (70 years), his wife Jean (nee Flahr) June 18, 1982 (50 years), and by sister-in-law Helen January 8, 1997 (53 years). Leonard was born in Sifton, MB on March 11, 1940. He went to school in Sifton and at the age of 19 years was employed by CNR as a Train Lineman, Breakman and Conductor. He loved his job and the people despite the lengthy travelling he had to do. He retired at the age of 55 after 36 years of service. Leonard will be remembered for his love of cooking, smoking fish, caring for his three lot yard and house, picking wild mushrooms and flowers, caring for the elderly and their needs, driving them to Dauphin for appointments, etc. and helping his friends on their farms. He was a loving, caring person and will be sadly missed. Prayers will be sung on Sunday, November 11 at 7:00 p.m. in Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1001 Grant Ave., with Rev. Fr. Michael Winn officiating. Divine liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, November 12 at 10:00 a.m. also in the church with Rev. Fr. Andrew Wach and assisted by other clergy. Our family would like to thank all who helped in Leonards care, especially the nurses, doctors and friends who visited and took Leonard out for several outings. You gave yourselves with love and tender care. God bless you. A special thanks to Fr. Michael Winn and Fr. Andrew Wach for their love, prayers and kindness to Leonard. Thank you Bill for taking Elizabeth to visit Leonard for four years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leonards memory to Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1001 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3N 1Y4.
