Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALICE HOLMES Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, Alice Holmes passed away on November 9, 2001 at Golden Links Personal care Home, her residence for the past 12 years. Alice was predeceased by her husband John Robert (Jack), her parents James and Agnes King and her brother Doug and sister-in-law Ollie. Alice is survived by her son Jim, his wife Helen and daughters Lori, Jocelyn and Shelaine (currently living in the US) and her daughter Heather Borland, husband Rick, and sons Jonathan and Trevor. She also leaves a sister Maisie King of Vancouver; and a niece Tracy Osachoff and her husband David and family of Santiago Chile. Alice was born August 28, 1912, and grew up on Parker Avenue in Fort Garry. After her marriage to Jack, they lived on Mulvey Avenue in Fort Rouge and moved back to Fort Garry in 1950 to Oakenwald Avenue where they raised their family. In her younger years, Alice was an active member of the Fort Garry Community. Alice and Jack enjoyed their participation in the Gay Garrys Square Dance Group, and were founding members of the International Order of Jobs Daughters, Bethel #8. Alices first love was for her family. She cared for both her parents in their later years, as well as providing care for her sister, Mais. She also enjoyed several trips to Hawaii with her sister-in-law Ollie. Alice will be remembered, not only for her kindness and loving heart, but also for the wonderful aromas that came from her kitchen. When times were tough, she could always make something out of very little. It was sure nice to come home on a cold winter day to a big bowl of homemade soup. Alice cherished her grandchildren and loved to spend time with them. When her memory started to fade, her grandsons were great company for her. The family would like to thank Dr. Sharky who was so kind and helpful prior to Alice entering Golden Links, and to Doctor Ramgoolan for his long term care. Heather and the family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Golden Links Personal Care Home for their unfailing help, support and love during these difficult years. Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, November 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Marys Road. If friends so desire donations may be made to Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Marys Road Winnipeg, MB, R2M 4A5. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4860
