ELIZABETH VICTORIA HART (nee MENOW) Peacefully with her family at her side, our brave Mom joined her beloved parents and other loved ones in heaven on Sunday, November 4, 2001. Mom was born on December 13, 1940 in Norway House, MB. She went to school in Norway House, residential school in Cross Lake, and graduated from Assiniboia residential high school in Winnipeg. Mom said it was difficult to be away from her family but that she learned to enjoy school. Mom married our Dad, Stanley, and started a family in 1964. Our Dad passed away in 1976. Mom tried many jobs but decided to further her education in nursing. She studied and became a Licensed Practical Nurse while caring for small daughters at home. She worked at the Deer Lodge, Childrens, and General Hospitals before moving back to her hometown. In Norway House Mom worked at the Pinaw Wachi Personal Care Home for over 10 years then joined the Norway House Clinic as Supervising Nurse until her early retirement in April of 2000. Mom knew everyone in our community and was always professional and hardworking. Mom cared about the people she served and loved the people she worked with. Mom endured many hardships in her life but rarely complained to anyone. She could be tough but was so out of concern and of love. She taught us - her daughters - to be independent, to work hard, and to try to be good people. She adored her grandchildren, especially her three grandsons, Michael, Robert, and James. Mom was very crafty; she liked to make all kinds of creations from little decorations to afghans and quilts. She was an avid reader and must have read thousands of books during her life. She especially liked mysteries. Mom loved going to church every Sunday until her illness made it difficult. She was lifelong friends with many nuns and they corresponded for many years. With close friends she made trips to Saskatchewan and Quebec to visit with them. Mom will always be remembered in the hearts of her daughters, Lori, Debbie (Dave), and Georgette. Grandsons, Michael, Robert, and James. Siblings, Annie, Therese (Alfred), Stanley (Leona), Andrew (Mary), Hector (Viola), Fred, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, friends, and her buddy since childhood, Emily Robinson. We would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre who treated our mother with dignity, kindness and respect. In particular we would like to thank Dr. Ken VanAmeyde. His ensuring that Mom return home to Norway House for her last days to visit with family and friends is greatly appreciated and will be remembered. In her last days the staff of Norway House Hospital cared for Mom, all of who knew Mom and treated her like family. She was so happy to be home. We would like to thank all of them for making these days easier for her. A celebration of her life and interment were held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 6. We wish to thank Sister Marie Finn for all her help and spiritual guidance. If friends so desire, a donation can be made to the Sceloderma Foundation of Manitoba. Moms spirit was incredibly strong unfortunately her body was not. We know that she is now at peace and humbly entrust her to Gods care and love. We are so very proud to be her daughters. "Love You Tons Mom" Lori, Debbie, and Georgette
