LOLA CATHELINE ANDERSON (nee GORECKI-GORETZKI) Our beloved wife, mother and grand-mother, Lola Anderson, entered eternal rest peacefully on Saturday, November 10, 2001 at Seven Oaks Hospital. She was predeceased by her parents, Nickolai and Anastasia Goretzki; and her sister Hedwig Dennis. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 42 years, Gary Anderson; children, Gayle (George Anastasiadis) and Kent (Karen) Anderson all of Winnipeg, Jennifer (Terry Dyler) and Barbara (Cyrille Guilbert) all of Calgary; seven cherished grandchildren, Andreas, Brandi, Thomas, Joshua, Jason, Cassie and Stacy; brother Chester Goretzki of Winnipeg; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Winnipeg September 23, 1936, Lola graduated from St. Johns High School in 1954 and St. Boniface Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. In June of 1959 she married Gary and moved to Brandon where their four children were born. Returning to Winnipeg in 1971 she resumed her nursing career. She nursed at Misericordia Hospital for a short time before becoming an instructor for the Misericordia School of Nursing. Later she taught nursing at Red River Community College. In 1985, she moved to Calgary where she lectured and researched for Aids Calgary before working at Calgarys Grace Hospital. Returning to Winnipeg in 1993, she continued in the medical field as a unit clerk at Winnipegs Grace Hospital until ill health forced an early retirement. There will be a funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 14, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Burrin Ave., Winnipeg. As per her wishes, cremation has occurred and a private interment at St. James Anglican Cemetery in Libau, MB, will follow at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined.
