MARY R. TANNER Peacefully on Sunday, November 11, 2001, at her home in Brunkild, Mary Rebecca Tanner (nee Frantz) passed away at the age of 90 years. She was predeceased by her parents George and Letitia; son Lorne in 1935; husband James in 1980; brothers, Donald, George, Allan and Clark and sister Lois Lake. Mary was born in the Prairie View District, between Starbuck and Brunkild. In 1930 she married John Edward James Tanner and in 1937 they took up residence in Brunkild. Mom was a strong supporter of her husband in his work as well as his hobby in woodworking. She was also very active in her community where she served on local school and hall boards. She was also involved in the preparation of two Community history books. She seemed to be a wealth of information and her memory served her well all of her years. Her cookie jar was never empty and tea or coffee was available at all times. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Kathleen Quinlan and son-in-law Len, (for whom she had great affection) nieces and nephews both in Canada and the U.S.. She will be missed by her many friends, all of whom were so kind and good to her. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 15 in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with the Rev. Ronald F. Vert and the Rev. Greg Fowlie-Neufeld officiating. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, followed by a reception in the Trinity Lutheran Church Hall in Starbuck. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 400-141 Bannatyne Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 0R3. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
