JAN (JOHN) CZWARNO John passed to his rest in Christ peacefully on Saturday, November 10, 2001 after a brief illness. Left to mourn his passing are his sons, Michael and John; and daughter-in-law Edith; and numerous nephews and nieces in Poland and England. John served with the Polish army during the Second World War. After the fall of Poland, John escaped to England where he joined the Polish Battalion and served in France and Holland. It was in England, while on leave, that he met his future wife of 45 years, Hettie. John and Hettie came to Canada with their sons in 1956, and settled in Winnipeg. John worked for the City of Winnipeg until his retirement in 1975. John was predeceased by Hettie in 1991. He missed her immensely and waited for the day when he would rejoin her. He was predeceased by his four sisters and two brothers. Prayers will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 15. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Ghost Parish Church, 341 Selkirk Ave., at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16, followed by interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the staff on 4B and 5A at St Boniface General Hospital for the care they provided Dad during his illness. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
