IDA MARY MONKMAN Waabishki Bineshii Ikwe White Thunderbird Woman Peacefully on November 11, 2001 at her residence Ida Monkman aged 68 years of Vogar, MB. Ida was born April 15, 1933 at Dog Creek Indian Reserve. She worked at the Finkels Farm at Eriksdale for many years, and also at the Narrows Lodge for 15 years. Ida loved quilting, liked to cook and going to bingo. She leaves to mourn her husband Abraham Monkman; step-son Albert Monkman (Doreen) daughter Margaret Houle (Russell) son Charles Monkman (Linda) son Larry Monkman (Myna) daughter Rhonda Monkman; brothers, Ernest Maytwayashing and Johnny Baptiste (Mary Ann) grandchildren, Kevin (Donna), Wade, Jamie, Clinton, Vanessa, Samara, Chelsea, Rainy, Summer, Russell, Richard, Renita, Raelene, Glenda and Arden; great-grandchildren, Deana, Brittney, Barbie, Brandy, Manuel, Jared, Laurel, Jules, Jeremy, Jarilynn, Kenneth and Josh; great-great grandchild Shanelle Swan; also many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Nancy Maytwayashing; sisters, Breena Spence, Mary Edwards and Christina Monkman; and a brother Norman Maytwayashing (Farmer). A wake service will be held on Wednesday, November 14 at her residence in Vogar, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church on Lake Manitoba First Nation with Father Mike Nwosu officiating. Interment to follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Vogar, MB. Active Pallbearers will be Kevin Monkman, Buddy Monkman, Richard Monkman, Michael Maytwayashing, Tim Edwards and Bryce Missyabit. Honorary Pallbearers will be her good friends she acquired over the years, Winnie Stasiuk, Elsie Beitz, Grace Gordon, Violet Mailman, Shirley Pinder, Olga Maytwayashing, Lorna Anderson, Ida Maytwayashing, Mary Pottinger and Rita Lussier.
