Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIO MORTA VILLARANDA 1944 - 2001 Following a courageous battle with cancer, Mario Morta Villaranda, dearly beloved husband of Elvira Villaranda, passed away with dignity on Monday, November 12, 2001 at the Riverview Health Centre, to be with the Lord at the age of 57 years. Mario leaves to cherish his memory, besides his loving and caring wife Elvira, his children, Maria (Trevor), Jose (Winnie) and Shari, as well as his grandchildren, T.J., Alycia, Kaelin, Jesse, Jason and Alyssa, as well as cousins and many special friends. He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Maria Morta Villaranda. Mario cherished his six precious grandchildren and loved to spend any of his free time with them. His passion was fishing and camping which he enjoyed during much of the summer months with family and friends. He was a quiet, kind, special, caring and wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who displayed heart, courage and a strong will for all of us to idolize, during his ordeal. Lamay will be held on Saturday, November 17 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., and Sunday, November 18, from 3:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. (Prayers at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, November 18) at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 19 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Marys Roman Catholic Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Ave. Rev. Fr. Ken Barclay presiding, with interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be T.J. Sawatzky and Cris Calitis. Active Pallbearers will be Pablito Timbang, Roger Saudin, Romy and Ronald Recuenco, Tommy Camia and Jun Devera. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring doctors, nurses and staff at the Health Sciences Centre wards and Emergency Department; Riverview Palliative Care Unit for their acts of kindness, compassion and generosity during Marios final stages of life.
