ROBERT W. BOYD With deep sorrow the family and friends of Robert W. Boyd wish to announce his passing on November 10, 2001 in Sooke, BC. His wife of 42 years, Margaret Boyd, predeceased him in 1998. He is survived by his sister V. Beatrice Shaw of Winnipeg, one nephew Ian Shaw of Vancouver, and two nieces, Barbara Shaw of Mississauga and Linda Korotasz of Winnipeg. He is also survived by three great-nieces, Christina (Richard) Brown of Yellowknife and Carol and Candace Korotasz of Winnipeg. His good friends Henry and Lorna Strong and their daughter Debbie looked after him in his final hours, as he fought to the bitter end with his old nemesis, cancer. We thank them for their kindness. Bob worked for the City of Winnipeg for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the Second World War, Joining the army at the age of 17 . He was a member of the Legion for over 50 years. He belonged to Seven Oaks Game and Fish and was on avid fisherman with more than a few master angler awards to his credit. He also volunteered at the Christmas Cheer Board for over 17 years. Everyone will remember him for his dry humour and his helpfulness to all. There was nothing he would not do for people, and nothing he could not fix. Cremation has taken place in Victoria. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 17 at 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7 would be appreciated by her family.
