Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGWENDOLINE "THORA" SALLOWS Gwendoline "Thora" Sallows (nee Ellicott) slipped away on November 14, 2001 at the age of 88 years, surrounded by the two things she loved most: her family and her music. Thora was predeceased by her husband Ralph; parents, William and Mary Ellicott; brother Ted; and sister Florance Parker. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Molly (Bob) McKay, Nola (Don) Hartgerink, Chloe (Bruce) Jorgenson, Wanda (Stan) Herman; and her sons, Bill (Marg) Sallows and Terrance (Val) Sallows. Also left to remember are her many grand-children, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Thora was born on August 6, 1913 in Gilbert Plains, the second daughter of Bill and Mary. She grew up in Ashville, MB and attended school in Gilbert Plains. It was there that she met and married Ralph. In 1939 they moved to Cranberry Portage where they raised their six children. After Ralph retired from Manitoba Hydro in Great Falls, MB, they returned to Gilbert Plains and then settled on the warmer climate of Kamloops, residing in Glenfair, Thrupp Manor and finally, Ponderosa. She will be remembered for her passion for cribbage, scrabble, dominoes, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, knitting and singing. Her quiet, patient approach to life made everyone she came into contact with appreciate the gifts life had to offer. She will be sadly missed. The memorial service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 16 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Dr. Pastor LaMont Schmidt officiating.
