Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH GERARD RAYMOND FOURNIER Joseph Gerard Raymond Fournier passed away peacefully on November 5, 2001 at St. Josephs Hospital, Comox, BC at the age of 65. He will be lovingly remembered, and sorely missed by his wife, Marguerite (Masson) children, Jo-Anne (Andrew Phillips), Andre (Wyn Kochie) Lisa (John Karvelas), Marc (Cherrie Morier) grandchildren, Michael, Demetrios, Luc, Chris and Krysta-Lynne; siblings, Francois (Denise Briere) Denise, Laurette (Jean-Yves Pare), Roger (Francine Desjarlais) as well as Mother-in-Law Anna Masson of Ste. Rose de Lac, MB and in-laws, Don (Carole Deleau), Ron, Paul (Sharlene Valcourt), Henri (Fern Rath) and Ernest (Valerie Delorme) Masson, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ray enlisted in the RCAF in 1955 as an airman and was commissioned in 1970. He travelled throughout Canada and the world in his work. He retired as a Major in 1987 in Winnipeg and began a new career as a civilian with Canex on the Canadian Bases Lahr and Baden in Germany. In 1993, he retired to the Comox Valley and continued to enjoy his hobbies of gardening, skiing, fishing, hiking, golfing and perfected his skills as a master winemaker. Ray was a long-time member of the 888 RCAF Wing in Comox and served many years as Treasurer. Ray was an active, friendly and well-spoken man, who was devoted to his family and friends. He enthusiastically sought out new challenging adventures. Throughout his life, his determination to overcome obstacles was a source of strength. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 10 in Comox. Cremation followed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rays memory to the Comox Valley Hospice Society, Box 3193, Courtenay, BC, V9N 5N4.
