Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT WALLACE SPEAR On November 11, 2001 at Lions Manor, Winnipeg in his 103rd year. Wallace was born March 30, 1899 in Pipestone, MB in the Presbyterian Manse to Rev. David and Margaret Spear. In 1933 he was married to Louise Pope. They had one son Bob of Mission Viejo, CA "Lou" predeceased him in 1958. He was also predeceased by his second wife Anne in 1994 as well as his brother Will, killed in battle in the First World War; his sister Helen Brock of Regina; and his brother Thomas of Calgary. After a seven year career with the Bank of Nova Scotia in Winnipeg and Toronto, Mr. Spear joined James Richardson & Sons in their newly formed Investment Dept. in 1928. He was employed in various positions in Winnipeg, Regina and Calgary until his retirement in Winnipeg in 1964 as Superintendent of the Manitoba and Saskatchewan branches. He was involved in sports such as golf, curling and hunting and was a member of the Manitoba Club, the St. Charles Country Club and the Granite Curling Club and the St. Andrews Society. He was a life member of Emulations and Perfection Lodges in Regina and obtained his 32nd degree in Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in the Valley of Winnipeg. After retirement, he was actively involved in the planning of the Victoria General Hospitals new site in Fort Garry and was on the Board of Directors for many years. One of the greatest joys of his life was his cottage in Victoria Beach, which he owned for over 50 years. During his many happy years of retirement, he travelled to California and Mexico and worked for the benefit of Victoria Beach. In addition to son Bob he is survived by daughter-in-law Madeleine; grandson Michael and wife Kimberly of Turloch, CA; and granddaughter Suzanne of Corona de Mar, CA as well as several nieces and nephews throughout Canada and the U.S. At his request there will be no services.
