Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER MARCYNIUK 1912 - 2001 It is with sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Walter Marcyniuk on Tuesday November 13, 2001 at West Park Manor Personal Care Home at the age of 89. He is predeceased by his parents, other family, and cousin, Mike Marcyniuk, his only known family in Canada. Left to cherish his memory are his many friends and acquaintances at West Park Manor Personal Care Home and his friends and family in the Ukraine. Walter was born May 12, 1912 in the Ukraine, with a religious affiliation to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Later he immigrated to Canada when he was about 18 years of age. He settled in Dauphin, MB where he attended night school to learn to read and write while working on a farm. Later, he moved to Thunder Bay where Walter started working for the Canadian Pacific Railroad until his retirement about 1972. Living as a bachelor all his life, Walter settled in at the Winnipeg McLaren Hotel for about 20 years until his transfer to West Park Manor Personal Care Home in January of 1993 where he acquainted himself with many friends. Quite capable of handling his own affairs, Walter lived a fairly simple life. He was a kind, gentle and cheerful man. Enjoyed socializing with others, especially if it involved food. He enjoyed watching sports, table games, entertainment, watching TV, fishing and the outdoors at times. A memorial service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday November 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the West Park Manor Personal Care Home 2nd Floor Multi-Purpose Room, 3199 Grant Ave., Winnipeg. Internment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Special thanks to all care givers at West Park Manor Personal Care Home, for their compassionate and attentive care as expressed by Walter on occasion, and for the prayers, kind words expressed by his care givers over the past eight years.
