Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLANCE VICTOR MERRITT 1933 - 2001 It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing on Friday, November 16, 2001, with his faithful dog Millie at his side, of our beloved Father, Lance, at the age of 68 years. Lance was born October 17, 1933 in Winnipeg, MB to parents Robert and Daisy (nee Mitchell) Merritt. Lance attended St. James School and went on to a lengthy career of 31 years as a Police Officer and Firefighter with the City of Winnipeg. Following his retirement in 1987, he relocated to his acreage north of Mulvihill, MB, where he established residence in his beautiful, handcrafted log home. Lance loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved dancing, golfing and needlepoint. He was very active in the rural community and attained the position of Proctor with the Manic Depressive Society of Manitoba. In this capacity, Lance provided counselling and support to many others also afflicted with major depressive disorders. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to mourn his passing his dearly loved companion Helen Drylick of Ashern, MB; his sister Daisy and her family of Christ Church, NZ; his son Greg of Winnipeg, MB; his daughters, Kathy Lisowick and Crystal Cobon of Vancouver, BC, and their families, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends. Lance was predeceased by his brother Robert in 1989. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 21 at 2:00 p.m. in the Camper Community Hall with Pastor Terry Throndson officiating. Interment to follow at a later date in the Mulvihill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lances memory to the United Firefighters of Winnipeg Burn Fund, Local 867, 202-666 St. James St. Winnipeg, MB R3J 3J6, or to help fund a support centre in Lundar for mental health.
