JACQUELINE (JACKIE) WILMA ROBERTSON After a lengthy illness we announce the death of Jackie Robertson on Sunday, November 18, 2001 at the Health Science Rehab Centre. She was predeceased by her parents, Laura and Lorne Robertson and brother Bill. She leaves to cherish her memory, her nephew Jim (Lena) Robertson; niece Kelly Robertson and their mother Vicki; numerous cousins; her dear friend Cathie Christie and many other close friends. Jackie attended Queenston, Robert H. Smith and Kelvin Schools, where she participated in the choirs and the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. She was a member of Jobs Daughters, Bethel No. 1. Jackie graduated in 1956 from the St. Boniface School of Nursing. She took various positions in nursing at Lac du Bonnet, St. Boniface Hospital, University Hospital, Saskatoon, and Royal Alexander Hospital, Edmonton. In 1970 she obtained her B. Sc. in Nursing from Lakehead University and returned to Winnipeg and was appointed Co-ordinator of In-Service Education at the Health Science Centre until her retirement in 1978. After retirement she became very involved with the United Way and the Independent Living Resource Centre where, for three years, she chaired the Independent Living Kite Festival. Jackie travelled extensively over the years with her Dad, cousins and friends. Special thanks are extended to the doctors, the wonderful nurses and staff of GH3 and RR6 for their kind and compassionate care. You were part of her extended family. Following a private interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, a funeral service will be held in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, on Friday, November 23 at 11:00 a.m. with Janet Walker officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Way, 3rd Floor- 5 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 2T4, Independent Living Resource Centre, 311A-393 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 3H6, Arthritis Society, 105-386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3R6 or a charity of your choice. Jackie will be remembered her positive outlook and incredible strength. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
