BARNEY JOHN GILARSKI It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Barney John Gilarski on Sunday, November 18, 2001 at Grace Hospital at the age of 81 years, after a brief illness. Barney was predeceased by his two infant sons; parents, John and Mary; brothers, Walter, Bobby and Rudolph and sister Jean Flynn. He is survived by his loving daughter Joan (Donny) sons, Allan (Marcy) and Andrew (Gail) grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley, Jennifer and Tige; nieces and nephews. Barney was born on February 5, 1920 and raised in the North End. Dad worked various jobs during his lifetime, the latter with City Gas as a gas fitter. He had many hobbies and friends. Dad was gifted with the ingenuity to refurbish just about anything whether it was cars, boats, appliances, you name it. He had a flair for cooking, liked hunting and fishing and looked forward to the many fishing trips with his friends and especially with his son Andrew, his favourite spot being Pointe de Bois. Dad was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone whether it was his neighbour, friend or family. He welcomed his friends who would share a few Cool Ones with him at his kitchen table. Dad was a great storyteller and liked to share his adventures and misadventures with you. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff at Grace Hospital for the care and compassion given to Dad during his illness. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
