MELITA LEHN Suddenly, on November 20, 2001, Melita Lehn passed away peacefully in her home. She was born in Einlage, Southern Russia, on March 10, 1914, the second youngest of eight children. After the death of her mother in 1917, the children were raised by their father with the help of his sisters. In 1923 the family emigrated and settled on a farm near Hanley, SK. At age 16, she became responsible for all of the household duties for her father and four brothers. After the death of her father, for whom she provided nursing care until 1949, she completed her education and took up employment in Winnipeg. She retired in 1979. She is survived by her sister Agatha Plenert, brother Waldemar Lehn, sister-in-law Erna Lehn, and many nieces and nephews. She will always be remembered for her wonderfully positive attitude to life and for the many kindnesses to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and relations. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place, and her remains will be interred at the site of her fathers grave, in the cemetery of the Hanley Mennonite Church. The funeral service will be held at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave., on Monday, November 26, at 10:30 a.m. There will be a viewing at Bethania Personal Care Home, 1045 Concordia Ave., on Sunday, November 25, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the First Mennonite Church Memorial Fund.
