MICHAEL JOHN VICTOR SHAVER Michael John Victor Shaver, husband of Dorothy Heald Shaver, died in Vancouver on November 21, 2001 at the age of 83. Jack spent his life serving others. The people of North Winnipeg knew him as the barefoot son of Jim Shaver, the Methodist Missionary. His parishioners felt the comfort of his word and challenging approach to the scriptures. UBC students and faculty enjoyed his theological insights as the universitys first United Church Chaplain, while both churched and non-churched suffered his exposure of self-righteousness in all its forms. In celebration of Jacks life, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 2 at 2:00 p.m. in West Point Grey United Church in Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations to First United Church, or the charity of your choice, would be appreciated. Memories of him will continue to nurture his five children, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many others who loved him and were loved by him. "The meetings are what make life meaningful; the partings are where you find out how much it meant."
