STEVE KRAICHY, SR. 1921-2001 Peacefully, with his family by his side, Steve Kraichy, Sr. passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2001 at Seven Oaks Hospital. He leaves to mourn his passing, son Stephen, daughter-in-law Lorraine and beloved grandsons, Michael and David; daughter Juliet and son-in-law John Pintak; sister Anne, brother-in-law Lloyd Goodman, nieces and nephews, Pat, Dawn, Butch, Darren, Dan and their families; sister-in-law Anne Kraichy, nephews, Donald, Ron and their families; sister-in-law Juliet Shelley and niece Carol. He was predeceased by his mother Annie; father Peter; brother Nick and nephew Robert. Steve was born on April 24, 1921. He immigrated to Canada with his family and settled in Winnipeg. As a young man he served in the Canadian Armed Forces overseas during the Second World War. On his return, Steve began his career as a Refrigeration mechanic at Ashdowns and later worked at the University of Manitoba from where he retired in 1985. He spent his retirement years enjoying his home, puttering in his garden, and meeting with his friends and family. Steve was a devoted father and grandfather. He adored his grandsons and loved spending time with them, taking great pride in their many accomplishments. His generosity and kindness towards others was a special gift that deeply touched the lives of many people. His great love for his family will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered always. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Steves memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8 or to the Childrens Hospital Foundation, CE501 - 840 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1S1.
