HERBERT RUSSELL BURNS Peacefully, on Saturday, November 24, 2001, Herb Burns, age 78 years, beloved husband of Evelyn, passed away at Health Sciences Centre. Besides his loving wife Evelyn of 26 years, he leaves to mourn his children, Alan, Connie (Jerry) Kulyk, Alan (Katy) Horbatiuk, Joan (Grant) Mohr and Debbie (Alan) Dixon; seven grandchildren, Chris, Shannon, Corrine, Trent, Kurt, Timothy and Matthew; one sister Edna Kinch of PEI; and one brother-in-law Ellis Smallman of PEI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Herb was born December 3, 1922 in St. Lawrence, PEI. He served in the Second World War in the Canadian Air Force and settled in Winnipeg in 1955. He worked for Ideal Brass for many years and was a member of the Corps of Commissioners until his retirement. He was member of the West Kildonan #30 Legion and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and telling his stories and sharing his knowledge of history. He was an avid outdoorsman, and spent many hours at Fort Whyte with his grandchildren. We will all miss his wonderful sense of humour. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Health Sciences Centre for all their care and compassion. Prayers on Tuesday, November 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 28 at 1:00 p.m. also at the Chapel with Rev. Fraser Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Herbs memory to CancerCare Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248, Stn.
